Nature:Warm

Taste:Acrid, aromatic

Common Usages:

This herb is used in formulas to treat summer colds and flus with symptoms of low fever, stomachache, diarrhea with sensation of having to defecate after finishing, vomiting, bloating, headache, scanty and dark urine, and sensation of heaviness in arms and legs (TCM: for symptoms of damp summer heat); also used for morning sickness in early pregnancy when combined with other herbs.

Traditional Usages and Functions:Transforms dampness; balances the Middle Burner and stops vomiting; helps throw off attacking pathogens by causing sweating.

Remarks:

Agastache is added last when preparing raw herbs for drinking since it has aromatic qualities that will dissipate with long boiling. Cautions in Use: This aromatic plant strongly stimulates movement within the body, and as a result it must be used carefully when there is deficient yin with heat signs or if there is Stomach heat.
