Common Usages:

This herb is well known for its use in formulas that treat headaches; also used to treat concussion, chest and rib pain, and some menstrual imbalances (TCM: stagnant Qi and/or Blood; external wind conditions; congealed Blood).

Traditional Usages and Functions:

Invigorates Blood and promotes circulation of Qi; expels Wind and alleviates pain. Used for headaches.

Clematis and Stephania; Cnidium and Tea; Cyperus and Ligusticum; Ginseng and Tang Gui Ten; Leonuris and Achyranthes; Tang Gui and Gardenia; Tang Gui and Ginseng Eight; Tang Gui Four; Tu-Huo and Loranthus.

Cautions in Use:

Do not use during pregnancy. Do not use where there is deficient Yin with heat, rising Liver Yang headaches, excessive menstrual bleeding, or where there is very deficient Qi.
