This herb is most often used in formulas that treat rheumatic arthritis with symptoms of dull pain in the joints, poor appetite, fatigue, and nausea. (TCM: internal damp conditions; deficient Spleen). It is also useful in treating the night blindness caused by vitamin-A deficiency.

Traditional Usages and Functions:

Dries dampness and strengthens the Spleen; expels wind dampness; clears dampness in the Lower Burner; causes sweating and expels pathogens.

Common Formulas Used In:Clematis and Stephania; Cyperus and Ligusticum.
